Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan has rejected allegations by former US special envoy to Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad that Islamabad is arming former Afghan personnel to fight the Taliban, describing the claims as unsubstantiated and misleading.
In a statement posted on X on Saturday, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said Khalilzad’s assertions relied on speculation and sought to divert attention from the presence of militant organizations in Afghanistan.
“Pakistan categorically rejects the baseless and misleading allegations by Khalilzad of arming former Afghans to fight the Taliban and their supporter terrorist groups,” the ministry said.
The response followed a post by Khalilzad in which he alleged that Pakistan was supplying weapons to Afghans to fight the Taliban and that the Pakistani military was recruiting Afghan nationals to combat anti-Pakistan insurgents.
