Pakistan and Türkiye Set to Revive Landmark Offshore Exploration as Seismic Vessel Arrives in Karachi between November 17-20, 2026

Pakistan and Turkey are launching a joint offshore oil and gas exploration project, with a seismic vessel arriving in Karachi in November 2026. This initiative marks the first such effort for Pakistan in nearly two decades and is framed as a major milestone in bilateral relations.
Why it matters
This project represents a significant shift in Pakistan's energy strategy and strengthens geopolitical ties between the two nations.
Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik chaired a high-level meeting to review preparations and arrangements for the arrival of the seismic vessel of Turkish Petroleum Offshore Company (TPOC) in Pakistan. The vessel is expected to arrive in Karachi between November 17-20, 2026 marking the revival of Pakistan’s offshore exploration efforts after nearly two decades.
The Minister described the occasion as a special milestone in Pakistan-Türkiye relations, particularly following the signing of the Mecca Agreement. He said the arrival of the vessel represented a new chapter in the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
“This is a special moment for Pakistan-Türkiye friendship. I will try to personally receive the vessel upon its arrival in Karachi,” the Federal Minister said.
