A 33-year-old man was beheaded at Manimurtheeswaram near here on Sunday.

Police said Manikandan and Ponraj of Manimurtheeswaram beheaded Bhaskar, a painter, under Thatchanallur police station limits and threw the head about 200 metres away from the scene of crime. They surrendered before the Thatchanallur police with machetes, the murder weapon.

Thatchanallur police arrested the two men and registered a case.
