Overnight showers drench Hyderabad, heavy rains lash several Telangana districts

Heavy overnight rains impacted Hyderabad and several districts across Telangana, causing localized waterlogging. While traffic disruptions were largely avoided in the city, authorities remained on high alert to manage the weather-related challenges.
Why it matters
Severe weather events in urban centers like Hyderabad highlight the critical need for disaster management infrastructure and proactive municipal planning.
Overnight rains lashed several parts of Hyderabad late on Monday (July 27, 2026) and continued into Tuesday morning, bringing widespread showers across the city.
The rain began after 10 p.m., sparing the city from major traffic congestion during peak commuting hours. Earlier in the day, the Cyberabad Police had issued an advisory urging Information Technology (IT) companies to consider allowing employees to leave work early to minimise potential traffic disruptions in the event of heavy rainfall. However, as the showers commenced only after 10 p.m., traffic snarls were largely avoided.
