Residents of Bengaluru who have witnessed hot and humid weather for the last couple of weeks woke up to a rainy Sunday morning.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) data the city received widespread overnight rainfall with the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) and HAL Airport recording 94.2 mm and 66 mm rainfall respectively for a 24 hour period ending 8.30 a.m. on Sunday (September 20, 2026). Bengaluru city recorded 15.9 mm rainfall.

The rainfall also brought down the temperature by a few degrees Celsius which had been hovering above 30 °C for the last couple of weeks.

IMD officials said that widespread rainfall is likely across all districts of Karnataka till September 24.
