Over 960 women on waiting lists for endometriosis care across five hospitals
Over 960 women in Ireland are currently on waiting lists for specialist endometriosis care across five hospitals. While numbers have slightly decreased since the end of 2025, the HSE notes that accurate national tracking remains difficult.

Figures from the HSE show over 960 women are on waiting lists for endometriosis care across five established specialist endometriosis services across the country.
At the end of March, 965 women were on waiting lists, with 135 waiting over a year, figures released to Breakingnews through the Freedom of Information Act 2014 show.
This is a drop from the 1,045 women on waiting lists at the end of 2025.
However, the HSE says it is s not currently possible to determine with absolute accuracy the number of women awaiting endometriosis care across acute gynaecology services nationally.
Endometriosis causes cells, similar to those in the lining of the womb, to grow outside the uterus and can cause a range of symptoms, with some people experiencing chronic, debilitating pain.
