Over 5,000 women SHGs receive ₹408.67 crore in loans over five months in Salem
Salem district has distributed over ₹408 crore in loans to more than 5,000 women self-help groups during the first five months of the 2026-27 financial year. Over the past five months of the financial year 2026-27, a total of 5,027 women self-help groups (SHGs) have received ₹408.67 in loans in Salem district.
In a release on Thursday (September 3, 2026), District Collector K. Elambahavath said that the Chief Minister has announced and implemented various schemes for the economic development of rural and urban women. Specifically, he has allocated funds for women SHGs to engage in self-employment in order to ensure self-reliance and sustainable livelihood of women.
