Over 41 deaths in 19 months: Reason behind banning two-wheelers on E-City and KIA Road elevated corridors
Bengaluru Traffic Police have banned two-wheelers from two major elevated corridors, the Electronics City and KIA Road flyovers, starting in September. This decision follows a significant number of fatal accidents involving two-wheelers on these routes over the past 19 months.

Over 41 people lost their lives on the Electronics City and Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) Road flyovers in the past 19 months, which became a triggering point for the Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) to impose the recently announced restrictions, according to official documents accessed by The Hindu .
Now, According to the BTP notification, two-wheelers will be banned on the Electronics City flyover from September 11. Similarly, two-wheelers are restricted on the KIA Road flyover (from Sanjeevininagar Cross to Vidyashilpa Junction) from September 4.
A review of the data revealed that the Electronics City flyover witnessed 14 fatal accidents in 2025 and 12 in 2026 (till July-end). On the other hand, the KIA Road flyover saw five and 10 fatal accidents in 2025 and 2026, respectively. An average of 70-85% of accidents on these elevated corridors involved two-wheelers.
