Over 400 kg fresh sea cucumber seized at Nagapattinam
Forest Department officials in Nagapattinam seized 418 kg of fresh sea cucumber and arrested a 55-year-old man. The suspect was caught unloading the contraband from a vehicle near a burial ground and now faces charges under the Wild Life (Protection) Act.

A Forest Department team on Wednesday seized 418 kg of fresh sea cucumber and arrested a 55-year-old man in Nagapattinam.
Acting on information, the team found fresh sea cucumber, concealed in sacks in a mini freight carrier, being unloaded near a burial ground. The vehicle along with the sea cucumber was confiscated.
The team arrested D. Selvam of Sellur village and brought him, the seized substances and the vehicle to the Nagapattinam Forest Range office. A case under The Wild Life (Protection) Act had been registered against Selvam, said a forest official.
