Over 40 people, including family group with three children, deported to Georgia at cost of €225k
Over 40 Georgian nationals, including a family with three children, were deported from Ireland to Georgia in an operation costing €225,000. Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan confirmed the deportation, stating it upholds the integrity of the immigration system and provides public confidence. Some of those deported had criminal convictions in Ireland.

OVER 40 PEOPLE were today deported to Georgia after a deportation order, with the chartered flight costing over €225,000, excluding VAT.
Justice minister Jim O’Callaghan this evening confirmed the completion of the deportation order to Georgia.
A Justice Department spokesperson said deportation orders were enforced against 43 Georgian nationals, 33 of whom were adult males and seven of whom were adult women.
Among the returnees was one family group, of which three were children.
Some 42 of the returnees were removed on foot of Deportation Orders issued by the minister pursuant to the Immigration Act 1999.
One man was removed on foot of a Return Decision issued by the minister pursuant to the newly enacted International Protection Act 2026.
