The Department of Cooperation has prepared a provisional list of beneficiaries under the State government’s crop loan waiver scheme in Tiruchi district.

Soon after the new government assumed office in May, Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay had announced the waiver of crop loan availed up to ₹50,000. However, the announcement did not go well among the farmers, and various farmers associations demanded that the State government grant total waiver of crop loan. Taking into account their demands, Mr. Vijay, upon his coalition government’s completion of 100 days in office, announced a full farm loan waiver of up to ₹75,000 for marginal, small, and other farmers recently.
