A little over 22 sovereigns of gold jewellery and some cash kept in an almirah of a locked house in Satya Nagar near Soolakarai in Virudhunagar district was stolen by miscreants.

The loss came to light on Wednesday and the police inspected the scene of crime and registered a case.

According to the complainant Saranya (29) wife of Arul Kumar, they had locked their home on August 30 and went to a relative’s function. When they returned on September 1, they found the lock broken and the jewels in the almirah missing. Soolakarai police are investigating.
