The Delhi government inspected 2,011 industrial units between January and July this year, imposing environmental compensation on 44 units and issuing closure orders against 33 for non-compliance, according to the government.
The inspections were part of a campaign led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to monitor industrial pollution and ensure compliance.
Ms. Gupta said that 106 units were found to be non-compliant with prescribed environmental standards, while 78 were operating without a valid Consent to Operate (CTO) from the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC).
“Providing clean air to Delhi is a priority for our government. We will extend all possible support to industries that comply with environmental regulations, but there will be no laxity towards units that violate the rules or pollute Delhi’s air,” Ms. Gupta said.
