Over 1,300 environmental violations detected by Safe City cameras in three days

LAHORE - The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has intensified its technology-driven crackdown against smog and environmental pollution across Punjab, using AI-powered cameras, drones and virtual patrolling through Smart Safe City Centres to identify violations. According to a PSCA spokesperson, 1,327 environmental violations were detected during the last three days. Of these, 637 vehicles transporting construction material without protective tarpaulins were identified, with 390 fined and 146 issued warnings. The spokesperson said 507 smoke-emitting vehicles were also detected, resulting in 406 challans and 29 warnings, while Safe City cameras issued 756 e-challans against vehicles emitting excessive smoke. Meanwhile, 120 violations involving barbecue smoke and chimney emissions were detected, leading to four fines and 100 warnings.
