Outbreak of suspected diarrhoea: Collector orders closure of non-vegetarian market in Kankipadu
Authorities in the Krishna district have ordered the temporary closure of non-vegetarian markets and eateries to contain a suspected outbreak of diarrhoea. Officials are implementing sanitation measures, including water treatment and pipeline flushing, to ensure public safety.

Krishna District Collector D.K. Balaji has stated that the situation in Kankipadu and Vuyyuru, where suspected diarrhoeal cases have been reported, is under control.
A few patients with symptoms of vomiting were admitted in the local dispensaries in the last few days.
Residents of Ankatamma Talli Temple Street, Punadipadu, Bank Colony, and other areas were admitted to the hospital with symptoms of diarrhoea. Mr. Balaji, who reviewed the situation, stated that instructions have been given to consume only boiled water.
“Chlorine tables have been distributed, tanks have been cleaned, and the pipelines have been flushed. The situation is fully under control in Vuyyuru and Kankipadu,” the Collector told The Hindu on Sunday (August 30, 2026).
