Our Lady of Snows Basilica feast: Local holiday for Tirunelveli district sought on August 5

Member of Parliament C. Robert Bruce has appealed to the Tamil Nadu Government to declare local holiday on August 5 to enable the devotees to attend the annual feast of Our Lady of Snows Basilica, Thoothukudi.
In a memorandum submitted to Finance Minister N. Marie Wilson, who is also in-charge of Tirunelveli district, Mr. Robert Bruce said the 11-day annual feast of Our Lady of Snows Basilica, Thoothukudi, is celebrated on August 5 after the flag hoisting on July 26 every year and the 444th annual feast is under way now.
