The Ottawa Senators served notice they want to keep their homegrown talent on Tuesday by signing him to a whopping eight-year, $86-million US extension, which is the largest contract in franchise history.

Thirty million of the deal will be paid in bonus money. The Senators haven’t signed players to contracts with bonus money since Bobby Ryan inked a long-term deal with the organization in 2014.
