Ottawa celebrates its 200th birthday Saturday, Sept. 26

The City of Ottawa celebrates its 200th anniversary with a block party complete with live music, public art and community activities around the city, plus free transit all day.

A Block Party will kick off celebrations at Marion Dewar Plaza at City Hall from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The event is free to attend for all but food and beverage is available for purchase.

The forecast calls for sun and a high of 22 degrees so attendees can enjoy live outdoor performances and activities. A pow wow kicks off the Block Party at 10:45 a.m. featuring drumming and singing, jingle dancing, hoop dancing and a performance of the Ottawa 200 anthem Heart of This Place .
