KAMPALA, Uganda — Michael Otonga Ochan has been appointed acting executive director of the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) as Fred Kabanda prepares to take over from Ernest Rubondo, whose second term ended on August 31.
Energy and Mineral Development Minister Monica Musenero appointed Otonga, PAU’s director of finance and corporate services, to lead the authority effective September 1, pending the executive director-designate’s assumption of office.
Highly placed sources said Kabanda, who heads the Non-Renewable Natural Resources Division at the African Development Bank’s African Natural Resources Management and Investment Centre, was selected as Rubondo’s successor.
PAU has confirmed that the minister approved the appointment of a new executive director but has not publicly identified the official.
