Some electoral officers have been hospitalised after thugs attacked a polling unit in Osogbo LGA of Osun state during the governorship election.
The attack occurred at polling unit 02 in ward 4 before collation commenced, according to the ward’s collation officer.
The officer reported the incident at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collation centre for Osogbo LGA at about 11:25pm.
He said the attack prevented the collation of votes from the affected polling unit.
“Some electoral officers injured during the incident are currently receiving treatment in hospital,” the officer added.
The identities of those responsible for the attack and the extent of the injuries were not immediately known.
