A 33-year-old woman’s organs were donated after she was declared brain dead by doctors at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer) in Puducherry.
According to a press note, Vijiyalakshmi of Kottaimedu near Villianur was admitted to Jipmer on July 17 following a road accident. However, her condition deteriorated. Following the prescribed protocol under the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act and after certification by the duly constituted medical experts, she was declared brain dead.
