Organs of a 29-year-old man who was declared brain-dead were harvested in Salem on Thursday (October 8, 2026).

The deceased, S. Kamaraj (29), a resident of Idaipatti Pudur near Pethanaickenpalayam, was a salesman at a ration shop in Karumandurai. On October 5, while he was headed to Karumandurai on a two-wheeler, a tractor struck his vehicle, and in the accident, he sustained grievous injuries.

He was admitted to a private hospital and later referred to Salem Government Hospital, where the doctors declared him brain-dead. Based on his parents’ consent, the doctors harvested his organs and sent them to various hospitals in Salem and Coimbatore. On Thursday, the doctors paid their respect to the deceased and handed over the body to the family members.
