Orange alert for 11 districts in Kerala on July 31
The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for 11 districts in Kerala due to intense rainfall caused by a deep depression. The state is expected to experience heavy weather conditions for the next two days.

The reinvigorated southwest monsoon is likely to continue two more days triggered by the deep depression over westcentral Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas of Vidarbha and southeast Madhya Pradesh. According to a weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday, the system is very likely to weaken gradually into a depression during next 12 hours.
However, the State is likely to witness some intense spells influenced by the system along with an off-shore trough that runs from south Gujarat to north Kerala. Strong westerlies/northwesterlies are prevailing over Kerala and Lakshadweep area in the lower tropospheric levels.
