The house of representatives minority caucus says President Bola Tinubu’s directive to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to unfreeze Osun state’s accounts shows his administration is “at war with itself”.
On Wednesday, the EFCC froze the state government’s bank accounts over alleged fraudulent handling of funds.
The anti-graft agency said it had been investigating the government since March, adding that some officials, including the accountant-general, had been interviewed by its investigators.
But Osun state government faulted the EFCC’s action, describing it as an attempt to cover up an illegal action through unfounded claims.
On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu directed the EFCC to lift the freeze order on Osun bank accounts immediately.
