American expert Bart Bramley was South, in today’s deal. North did well to pass, as no game makes for NorthSouth. In fact, only a heart lead defeats four spades by East-West. It is hard to fault West for not bidding. He had a misfit for partner’s suit and, with only 12 high-card points opposite a pre-empt, no real reason to think there might be a game his way.
