The Ranking Member on Parliament’s Economy and Development Committee and Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has raised concerns over worsening health sector indicators captured in the 2025 Annual Progress Report, warning that rising neonatal mortality and longer ambulance response times require urgent government attention.
Addressing the Parliamentary Press Corps in Parliament on Friday, July 17, 2026, Mr Oppong Nkrumah said the Committee’s review of the report would focus on ensuring that Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) account for the use of public funds and explain why some key development targets have not been achieved.
According to him, the report shows that despite investments in the health sector, neonatal mortality continues to increase, raising concerns about the effectiveness of interventions being implemented by relevant institutions.
