Operator to be appointed soon for Hubballi sports complex: Bellad
Arvind Bellad announced that an operator will soon be appointed to manage the international-level multipurpose sports complex in Hubballi. Additionally, construction has begun on a new wrestling hall and gymnasium at the Dharwad District Stadium to improve local sports infrastructure.
Why it matters
The development reflects ongoing efforts to decentralize high-quality sports facilities in India, aiming to foster talent at the district level.
The process of appointing an operator to manage the international-level multipurpose sports complex in Hubballi, equipped with facilities for 21 sporting disciplines, will be completed shortly, Deputy Leader of Opposition in the State Legislative Assembly Arvind Bellad said on Friday (September 11).
Speaking after performing the bhoomi puja for a new wrestling hall and gymnasium at the Dharwad District Stadium, Mr. Bellad said the multipurpose sports complex had been developed with the support of Union Minister Pralhad Joshi to provide modern facilities to sportspersons and that appointing an operator would facilitate its effective management and utilisation.
The new wrestling hall and gymnasium are being constructed at a cost of ₹1 crore by the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports. The facilities are intended to strengthen sports infrastructure in the district and provide athletes with better training facilities.
