'Operation Werewolf' extended until October in Latvia
Latvia has extended 'Operation Werewolf' until October to manage illegal border crossings and maintain security. The decision follows border fence damage caused by storms and aims to signal strength against migration exploitation from Belarus.

This decision was taken at the government meeting on 1 September. Interior Minister Jānis Dombrava (National Alliance) said that extending the operation would "demonstrate that Latvia is strong" and "send a strong message to Belarus that the exploitation of migration cannot influence our parliamentary elections".
