OpenAI Finally Enters the Hardware Market With the Launch of Codex Micro
OpenAI has launched its first physical hardware device, the Codex Micro, a specialized control interface designed for AI developers. The limited-edition device allows users to monitor AI agent activity and manage workflows through a tactile, color-coded interface.

The device is the result of a collaboration with Montreal-based tech company Work Louder and is described by OpenAI as “your control center for autonomous work with agents” as it allows you to monitor their activity in real time without having to keep your eyes glued to a computer or smartphone screen.
Codex Micro is equipped with a set of keys that use a four-colour code to indicate the agents’ status. When they light up green, they indicate that there are unread conversations. If they turn blue, it means the agents are processing an instruction or “thinking”. When they require the user’s approval to perform an action, the keys turn orange, while red indicates that an error occurred during the operation.
