Only govt. has changed, not scenes: Nainar Nagenthran

BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran has criticized the Tamil Nadu government over alleged police brutality and custodial deaths. He argued that despite changes in political leadership, the pattern of police misconduct remains unchanged.
Why it matters
This highlights ongoing concerns regarding police accountability and human rights in regional Indian governance.
When the government in Tamil Nadu had changed, the scenes remained the same, BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran said, referring to the alleged incidents of police excess.
Addressing the media here on Friday after visiting the residence of Arunachalam, Mr. Nagenthran said Arunachalam was taken away and allegedly assaulted by the police, which resulted in his death. Action should be taken against the police personnel involved in the incident and adequate compensation should be provided to the family of the deceased, he added.
Mr. Nagenthran said such incidents continued to occur in Tamil Nadu and accused the police of acting in an inhuman manner. “The police assaulted a youth in front of his mother without any humanity,” he said.
