Only 41% of census enumeration completed in Tiruchi city
Tiruchi Corporation has completed only 41% of the first phase of the 2027 Census as the August 30 deadline approaches. Officials are intensifying efforts to finish the house-listing exercise after initial delays caused by staffing issues.

About 41% of the enumeration work under the first phase of the Census 2027 exercise has been completed within the Tiruchi Corporation limits with officials racing against the August 30 deadline to finish the remaining work.
The Corporation has been divided into 1,728 blocks for the exercise. Enumeration has been completed in around 712 blocks while work remains in the remaining 1,016 blocks as of August 24.
The first phase, being conducted from August 1 to 30, focuses on house listing and housing-related details. Enumerators are collecting information on housing conditions, availability of basic amenities such as drinking water, and household assets through door-to-door visits.
The Corporation has appointed 30 supervisors and 1,850 enumerators for the field-level exercise. Each supervisor is expected to oversee enumeration covering around 200 to 250 households. Training programmes were conducted for both supervisors and enumerators before the commencement of the exercise.
