Only 1 lakh Delhi voters seek inclusion after 47 lakh draft deletions; Sept 30 deadline may be extended

Around one lakh applications have been received for inclusion in Delhi’s electoral roll during the ongoing claims and objections period of the special intensive revision (SIR). This represents only about 2.2% of the 47.56 lakh names left out of the draft roll published on August 31.

The latest figures released by the Delhi chief electoral officer show that 1,06,937 inclusion applications were received between August 31 and September 22. Along with the 2,12,400 applications received before August 30, this takes the total number of inclusion requests received so far to 3,19,337. New voters as well as those whose names were left out of the draft roll are required to file Form 6 for inclusion in the electoral roll.
