A one-year-old girl child accidentally fell into a water tub and died in Madurai on Thursday.
Police said the child accidentally fell into the water-filled plastic tub while playing at her house at Karuppayapuram.
As she went unconscious she was rushed to a nearby private hospital. From there she was referred to Government Rajaji Hospital.
Failing to respond to treatment, she died on Thursday.
Koodal Pudur police have registered a case and further investigation is under way.
