One worker, Subramanian, 55, was critically injured in a fire accident reported at Keerthiga Rishi Fireworks at Muthusamypuram near Alangulam on Friday.
The police said that friction while mixing chemicals at around 8.30 a.m. led to a blast in which the worker, Subramanian of Kakkivadanpatti, sustained 80% burns. No other worker was injured in the accident at the fireworks unit licensed by Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation.
Fire and Rescue Personnel put out the fire.
