One dead, three injured as car plunges into river near Keralam’s Kuttikkanam

One person died and three others were injured after a car plunged into a river at Nalammile near Kuttikkanam on the Kuttikkanam–Kattappana hill highway in Idukki district of Keralam late Friday (September 25, 2026) night.

According to the police, the accident occurred after 10 p.m. The deceased has been identified as Abhishek S. Nair, 28, a resident of Adoor in Pathanamthitta district. His wife, Kavya, and friends, Abhiram and Apsa, sustained injuries and were admitted to the Peerumade Taluk Hospital.

The police said the four-member group was staying at a resort in Kuttikkanam and was on its way to pick up a friend from a resort at Karintharuvi near Elappara. As the car approached the bridge over the Chinnar river, the driver lost control of the vehicle and it plunged into the river.
