A 22-year-old software engineer from Pune in Maharashtra reportedly drowned in the Patalaganga waters while taking a bath near Lingalagattu at Srisailam on Sunday. Local fishermen rescued another young man who was accompanying the deceased from drowning.

According to Sunnipenta police, a 10-member group of youngsters from Maharashtra visited Srisailam for a picnic. They reportedly entered the waters of river Krishna at Lingalagattu, and two of them ventured deep into the river. As the two started to drown, locals rushed to the area and pulled out one of them, Abhishek, to safety. He was rushed to a local government hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
