Kiwi Olympic legend Dame Lisa Carrington has welcomed her first child.
Carrington, New Zealand’s most decorated Olympian, shared news of her daughter’s arrival on social media today.
“Our beautiful baby girl is here. We are completely in love,” Carrington wrote.
Her post was accompanied by a short video of her newborn’s kicking feet and the Six60 song Rivers.
The post was inundated with congratulations from high-profile New Zealanders, including broadcaster Toni Street and fellow Olympic champion Emma Twigg.
In April, the 37-year-old kayaker shared that she and her husband Michael Buck were expecting their first child.
“This is some of the greatest news I’ve ever shared … Bucky and I are expecting!” Carrington wrote.
“We are so ready for this next chapter and couldn’t be more excited to begin our journey into parenthood.”
