Officials told to fast-track PM-KUSUM Component-C rollout across Karnataka

Karnataka officials have been directed to accelerate the implementation of the PM-KUSUM Component-C scheme to provide reliable daytime power to farmers. The project involves solarizing agricultural feeders to bridge power deficits across the state.
Why it matters
Improving energy infrastructure for agriculture is critical for food security and rural economic stability in India.
Additional Chief Secretary, Energy Department, Gaurav Gupta, directed officials to expedite the implementation of the KUSUM-C scheme, an initiative aimed at ensuring quality daytime power supply to farmers across Karnataka.
The State has planned to solarise agricultural feeders under the PM-KUSUM Component-C scheme. Of the total target, 439 projects with a combined capacity of 2,767 MW have already been awarded and agreements executed. Works covering 540 MW have been completed, while implementation of the remaining 2,227 MW is under way.
Reviewing the progress of the scheme at Belaku Bhavan on Tuesday, Mr. Gupta directed all Escoms, KREDL, and implementing agencies to adhere to project timelines and expedite key activities, including land identification, execution of agreements, and commencement of works, in view of the increasing power demand and the need to ensure reliable daytime power supply to agricultural consumers.
