Responding to the row over Bharat Ratna awardee and eminent scientist C.N.R. Rao’s name coming up for having a discrepancy in the SIR process, Additional District Election Officer (ADEO), BBMP North district, on Wednesday (September 9) said that while a notice was issued after a discrepancy was noted under “self-name mismatch”, no notice was physically delivered to him and his name was directly added to the final rolls on Tuesday (September 8), “noting his contributions and stature”.

ADEO Pommala Sunil Kumar, in a statement, said that the “BLO, without serving any notice to him, rightfully recommended (the case) for final approval to the Additional Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) appointed for the purpose. On September 8, 2026, the AERO approved the record for addition in the final roll.”
