Officially.. Increase in the Number of Teams at the Africa Cup of Nations

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced an expansion of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament. Starting in 2027, the competition will feature 28 teams instead of the current 24 to provide more opportunities for participating nations.

Patrice Motsepe, president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), has announced an increase in the number of teams taking part in the Africa Cup of Nations, starting from the next edition in 2027.
Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania will jointly host the 2027 finals, running from 19 June to 17 July.
