Odisha cadre IPS officer Shefeen Ahamed K. has passed away at age 50 following a battle with cancer. He was a decorated officer who served in both Odisha and Kerala police departments.

Odisha cadre-IPS officer Shefeen Ahamed K., 50, who hailed from Keralam, on Monday (August 31, 2026) died in a private hospital where he was undergoing treatment for cancer.
He was serving as Inspector General of Police, CID Crime Branch and Cybercrime, Odisha. He also served as the District Police Chief, Thiruvananthapuram Police, and Deputy Inspector General of Police, Armed Police Battalion, with the Keralam Police on deputation until nearly a decade ago.
A member of the 2003-IPS batch, Mr. Ahamed hailed from Oachira in Kollam. He had completed his graduation in Civil Engineering at the TKM College of Engineering, Kollam, and Master’s degree in Police Leadership and Management at Osmania University
His mortal remains, which have been kept at his residence in Vattiyurkavu, will be taken to his native place on Tuesday.
