South African motorists will face record fuel prices from Wednesday, October 7, after the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) announced significant increases for both petrol and diesel .
The DMPR announced on Monday that the price of 95 Unleaded petrol will rise by R3.33 per litre, while the cheaper 93 Unleaded petrol, which is only available in the inland regions, will increase by R3.12. 500ppm diesel will see a R2.84 price hike, while the cleaner 50ppm diesel will go up by R3.24. Illuminating paraffin, at wholesale level, will rise by R3.58.
