ODM party leader Oburu Oginga has linked the party's emerging political partnership with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) to the continuation of the late Raila Odinga's legacy, saying an ODM-UDA victory in the 2027 general election would advance the next phase of the country's liberation struggle.
Speaking in a statement marking the 16th anniversary of the promulgation of the 2010 Constitution, Oburu described economic liberation as the “Third Struggle” facing Kenya, following the country's earlier battles for independence and multiparty democracy.
“A beautiful constitution on paper cannot feed a hungry child. Political democracy without economic dignity is a house built on sand,” Oburu said.
He said Raila had played a central role in Kenya's democratic struggles, including the campaign for multiparty democracy and the constitutional reforms that culminated in the promulgation of the 2010 Constitution.
