Why it matters
The performance of young talent like O'Shea is vital for the competitive landscape of professional club rugby.
Charlie O'Shea announced himself to Thomond Park with a sensational performance, as the young out-half steered Munster to an impressive bonus-point win against the Bulls in Limerick.
The 20-year-old scored two tries and kicked three conversions in his first start for the province, and was given a standing ovation as he departed on 68 minutes following a dazzling performance in Munster’s 26-22 win.
His first try was all heart as he charged down a clearance kick from Curwin Bosch before winning a race to the line, before an acrobatic dive to the corner in the second half nudged Munster into a 19-17 lead from which they never looked back.
Even before his two tries, the Corkman was catching the eye, sending a stunning crossfield kick to Diarmuid Kilgallen for Munster’s opening try, and drawing a majestic conversion in off the right touchline.
