NYSC issues fresh guidelines, bars mobilisation without NERD verification

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Nigeria has mandated that all prospective corps members complete the Nigeria Education Repository and Data Park (NERD) verification process. Failure to comply or discrepancies in graduation records will result in a denial of registration.
Why it matters
This policy change is part of a broader government effort to curb academic fraud and ensure institutional compliance in Nigeria's education sector.
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued fresh guidelines for prospective 2026 Batch B Stream II corps members as deployment begins nationwide.
In a post on Monday, the scheme emphasised that every prospective corps member must have completed the Nigeria Education Repository and Data Park (NERD) verification process before mobilisation.
“No NERD, no NYSC. Prospective corps members are advised not to travel at night to the orientation camp,” the post reads.
The scheme said corps members with discrepancies in the date of graduation on their call-up letters and the date on their statements of results will not be registered at the orientation camp.
The NYSC advised affected persons to resolve such issues with their student affairs officers (SAOs) before reporting to camp.
The scheme also directed all prospective corps members to complete all required documentation before arriving at the camp, including the signing and submission of registration forms.
