Nrupatunga Literary Award for Sarjoo Katkar
Veteran writer and journalist Sarjoo Katkar has been selected for the Nrupatunga Sahitya Prashasti award for his significant contributions to Kannada literature. The award, which includes a cash prize of ₹7 lakh, will be presented at a ceremony in Bengaluru.

Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP) has selected Belagavi-based writer, translator and veteran journalist Sarjoo Katkar for the ‘Nrupatunga Sahitya Prashasti’ award, for his contribution to Kannada literature.
The award, instituted by BMTC , carries a reward of ₹7 lakh and a citation. It will be presented at a felicitation event attended by the Chief Minister in Bengaluru in the coming days, said a release by K.A. Dayanand, KSP Administrative Officer.
Dr. Katkar has published over 80 books including poetry collections, novels, dramas, story collections and rational thought. He has also translated several books from Marathi, Hindi and English into Kannada. His five novels have been made as films in Kannada. These have have won State, national and international awards.
