NRL: What we learnt from NZ Warriors' stunning win over Penrith Panthers
The New Zealand Warriors secured a significant 28-12 victory over the Penrith Panthers, signaling a return to form for the team. Coach Andrew Webster praised the performance while noting the need for continued improvement.
Why it matters
This win is a critical turning point for the Warriors' season, impacting their standing in the NRL and boosting team morale.
Analysis - And some wins are worth more than just two competition points.
Last month, NZ Warriors were lucky to survive a scare from NRL cellar-dwellers St George-Illawarra Dragons, a display that suggested they may struggle to retain their spot in the top four, let alone the top two, with the home playoff fixture that went with it.
Sure enough, seven days later, they were comprehensively outplayed and beaten by another team outside the post-season picture, Canterbury Bulldogs, to lose their grip on second - just the wake-up call their season needed.
This 28-12 win over top-of-the-table Penrith Panthers was the opposite of that.
"It always gives you confidence that you know you belong, but there's a lot of dips and turns, and the rollercoaster of the NRL over four weeks, lots of things will change, I'm sure," coach Andrew Webster reflected.
