NRL: Nathan Cleary claims first Dally M as several Warriors honoured in season awards
Penrith Panthers halfback Nathan Cleary won his first Dally M Player of the Year award, while Warriors coach Andrew Webster was named coach of the year for the second time. Several Warriors players were also recognized for their individual performances during the NRL season.
Why it matters
The Dally M awards are the most prestigious individual honors in the National Rugby League, reflecting the season's top talent.
When Andrew Webster was confirmed as the Warriors’ next head coach in 2022, he was seen as a rising talent in the coaching ranks.
Building a significant resume, which included time in the Super League and in the NRL with Wests Tigers, the Parramatta Eels, the Warriors and being part of a hugely successful Penrith Panthers coaching staff, Webster took the helm for the 2023 season in what was his first opportunity as a permanent head coach.
In the four years since, the 44-year-old Australian has been named the NRL’s coach of the year twice.
Webster picked up his second such accolade at the annual Dally M awards last night, one of five Warriors to be individually recognised.
Three Warriors featured in the team of the year – the second-most behind the Penrith Panthers’ four.
