NPP to aspirants: Stop campaigning now or risk disqualification

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ghana has issued a strict directive banning all premature parliamentary campaigning by aspirants. The party warned that violations, including social media promotion and distribution of inducements, could lead to disqualification.
Why it matters
This reflects internal party governance and efforts to maintain electoral discipline and fairness within a major political organization.
The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed all prospective parliamentary aspirants, their agents and supporters to cease all forms of campaign activities with immediate effect.
In a statement issued on Sunday, October 11, 2026, and signed by the General Secretary, Mr Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party said it had received numerous complaints that some members with parliamentary aspirations had begun campaigning in various constituencies.
It said such conduct was contrary to the party's regulations and Code of Conduct, created an uneven playing field and undermined the unity and discipline on which the party's success depends.
