NPP targets 1.5m vote margin in Ashanti Region for 2028 victory

New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong has set a target of a 1.5 million-vote margin for the party in the Ashanti Region in the 2028 general election.
He said the region would play a decisive role in determining whether the NPP returns to power, following a significant reduction in its vote margin in the 2024 elections.
Speaking at an NPP thanksgiving service in Kumasi on Sunday (6 September), Kodua said the party must work to restore its electoral strength in what has traditionally been one of its strongest regions.
However, he said the party’s margin fell by more than 500,000 votes in the 2024 election. He said the party had therefore set a target for the region to produce a 1.5 million-vote difference between the NPP and the NDC in the next presidential election.
